VISION BORN
FROM PASSION

Founder & CEO — Joanne Andonakis

Founder and CEO of MedTech Electrolysis, Joanne Andonakis has been navigating and treating hormonal hair concerns since the age of 16—an experience that inspired her lifelong pursuit of effective, permanent solutions. This personal journey laid the foundation for her career in the beauty industry and advanced electrolysis training, supported by international accreditations through CIDESCO and ITEC.

In 2011, Joanne established Medtech Electrolysis, launching an advanced electrolysis clinic in Sydney, followed by a second clinic on the Gold Coast in 2019. With over 17 years specialising in electrolysis and 25 years in the beauty industry, Joanne identified a significant gap between client outcomes and prevailing industry practices: Paradoxical Hypertrichosis (PH)—a highly underreported condition involving the stimulation of hair growth rather than reduction, most commonly following laser hair removal. Developed over more than six years and industry endorsed, the ME Masterclasses, alongside the patented Medtech Electra device, unite education and technology to update best-practice standards. Together, they provide practitioners with both the knowledge and the tools required to address PH safely and effectively—moving the hair removal industry forward together.

DIVERSE EXPERIENCE. UNIQUE LEARNINGS.

While the industry evolved with new treatments, tools, and strategies, traditional educational programs still resulted in frequent misapplications, overtreatment, and skin damage or hair growth stimulation.

Medtech Education is designed to bridge the gap between all hair removal methods. By working hand in hand with beauty colleges, these Masterclasses give students, educators, and the broader community access to the latest resources, equipment, and training to ensure the hair removal industry continues to move forward – together.

LOOKING FORWARD
WITH ME

ME and Joanne’s commitment to the enduring health and confidence of clients has called for an even deeper exploration into the outcomes and opportunities revealed by modern hair removal. In 2026, Joanne will take this mission one step further by undertaking a PhD in Paradoxical Hypertrichosis — a world-first academic inquiry that aims to give this underreported condition the scientific recognition, credibility and visibility it deserves.

This next chapter marks more than a personal milestone; it is a defining moment for the hair-removal industry. Through research, evidence, and unwavering advocacy, Joanne continues to pave a new path forward — one where practitioners are empowered, clients are protected, and the future of hair removal is grounded in integrity, innovation, and true care.
